  • Obtained three degrees at Colombia University, culminating in a combined doctorate on Physics and English & American Literature which he earned in 1971
Life, work, and accomplishments:
  • Best known for his work designing innovative, interactive museum experiences, including numerous children’s museums, Schlossberg is also prolific in the design of cultural facilities and  public spaces that encourage connection, communication, and the sharing of knowledge
  • He has authored 11 books in styles ranging from informative to poetic, including Interactive Excellence: Defining and Developing New Standards for the Twenty-First Century
  • Appointed to the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts in 2011 and served until 2013
  • Founder of ESI Design (Edwin Schlossberg Inc.), an organization that shares and enhances his vision of design for education, interaction, and connection
  • An active and artist beyond his design role, and has been featured worldwide in personal exhibitions and museums
  • Schlossberg is a board member of the John F. Kennedy Library, and serves on several other nonprofit boards. He is the co-founder of desigNYC, which did pro bono projects to connect designers with nonprofits in need
