Several area nonprofit groups were beneficiaries of Comedy for the Community, an Oct. 12 fundraiser organized by the Rogers & Gray Charitable Foundation at Heritage Museums & Gardens in Sandwich, according to a statement.
The third such event benefited three organizations providing services to people with developmental disabilities: Community Connections, which received $13,338, Cape Abilities, which received $10,438, and New England Village, which received $11,638, according to the statement.
Any nonprofit or board member of a nonprofit organization was invited to attend and enter their organization into a raffle to win one of five surprise $1,000 grants chosen during the evening. Winners included the John F. Kennedy Hyannis Museum, Plymouth Coalition for the Homeless, the South Shore YMCA, the Cape Cod Museum of Art and the Joe Andruzzi Foundation, according to the statement.
