The John F. Kennedy Hyannis Museum is pleased to begin offering Family Fun Weekend events this fall. Each Saturday we are offering a different activity for children. We encourage families to come visit the museum together. Parents can enjoy our museum exhibits while your children enjoy our special events and will get a discounted ticket rate of $7.00. The activities are each Saturday, 10:00-11:30 am.
There is no charge, but pre-registration is required so that we know how many participants for each week’s event. Registration can be made online or by phone, 508 790 3077 Ext. 5
Here are the events we have planned:
Saturday, September 14th
Author Dean Coe
Join Cape Cod author Dean Coe as he presents three of his stories about Chesterton, the good natured weasel. We will begin with Chesterton Saves the Whale at 10:00, followed by Chesterton Saves the Bunnies at 10:30, and the final story at 11:00, Chesterton’s Weekend Rescue. Books will be available for signing.
This event is for ages 5-10.
Saturday, September 21st
Author Consie Berghausen
Author Consie Berghausen will share her delightful Cape Cod books The Comorant and the Clam and A Shark! Named Jamison. These stories are based on Ms. Berghausen’s first hand experiences with Cape Cod’s ecology and animals. Books will be available for signing.
This event is for ages 5-10.
Saturday, September 28th
We’re hosting our own Cranberry Festival!
We’re hosting our own Cranberry Festival! Favorite children’s author Jim Coogan will return to the museum to present Clarence the Cranberry Who Couldn’t Bounce. Chef Dylan Jordan of Rendezvous Café will teach how to make delicious cranberry muffins. Each participant will get a bag of cranberries and a copy of the recipe. Mr. Coogan’s book will be available for signing.

Saturday, October 5th
Therapy dogs of the Companion Animal Program of Cape Cod
Come enjoy a relaxing morning sharing a story with the therapy dogs of the Companion Animal Program of Cape Cod. We look forward to the wonderful time shared between our participants and these wonderful dogs who love to listen to children read! We will provide some wonderful stories for you to share!
This event is for ages 5-12.
Saturday, October 12th
Rene King and the YMCA Cape Cod Young Achievers
Rene King and the YMCA Cape Cod Young Achievers will be here to help participants make Cape Cod’s own “Kindness K-Hogs.” Remember, “if you can be anything, be kind.” We will paint and decorate quahog shells with expressions of kindness
This event is for ages 6-adult!

Author Susan Baur
Author Susan Baur will share the ecology of Cape Cod’s Ponds through her series of Turtle Sister books about two stink pot turtles. Come and learn about our ponds and enjoy these wonderful stories!
This event is for ages 5-11.
Saturday, October 26th
Michael Ferreira, Barnstable Intermediate School art teacher
Our final event will be hosted by Michael Ferreira, Barnstable Intermediate School art teacher. Mr. Ferreira will help us create beautiful paper mosaics based on Jim Bowen’s Book Mosaic Alphabet.
