In June 1963, President John F. Kennedy made a visit that would alter the perception of Ireland for Americans and the rest of the world. Kennedy referred to his visit to Ireland as “the best four days of his life.” One of those days, June 29th, was spent in Galway, known for its long winding promenade, beautiful beaches, and traditional Gaeltacht culture of music, dancing, and the Irish language.

Told by residents present during the presidential visit, JFK: The Three Miles recalls the euphoric excitement in Galway. None had ever experienced such privilege or felt such an atmosphere. They certainly never met someone as famous as the President of the United States.

We are honored to continue to share this beautiful documentary that showcases the joy President Kennedy brought to the country of his ancestry. The documentary has been winning awards around the globe and is not to be missed.

One message comes through poignantly: in the ninety minutes JFK was in Galway, he made a strong, lasting impression upon the local people, and built a connection between America and Ireland that would live through generations.

JFK The Three Miles, Directed by Pamela Finn, Galway, Ireland, has won multiple awards, including Best Documentary Short at the Cannes World Film Festival and Best Director at the Washington DC International Cinema Festival. The film also won the City of Angels Woman’s Film Festival in Los Angeles.
