Life, work, and accomplishments:

  • As a young politician, he was the official Conservative Party candidate in 1944 for Derbyshire West, the historically Cavendish Parliament Seat. He was defeated in a landslide by the Independent Charles White who had resigned from the Labour Party to avoid the wartime partisan campaigning ban
  • He was calm and thoughtful, and an Anglican to boot, which would seem to clash with the liveliness of the very Catholic Kick Kennedy. However, this only drew them together, and per the words of his mother his marriage to Kick gave him “complete happiness”
  • An officer in the British Army, he was called for duty 4 weeks after his wedding to Kick. He assisted in the liberation of Brussels, only to be killed 6 days later
  • He was the heir to dukedom of his father
