The John F. Kennedy Hyannis Museum Foundation, Inc. proudly announces today the first recipients of the Founders Community Leadership Award which will be presented Wednesday, June 10, 2015 during a luncheon event at the Hyannisport Golf Club. The award recipients for 2015 are Wendy K. Northcross and Rebecca Pierce Merrick, co-founders of the John F. Kennedy Hyannis Museum.
The Founders Community Leadership Award recognizes individual or organizational excellence in leadership as demonstrated by outstanding initiative, impact of work, and inspiration of others. The Founders Community Leadership Award recognizes significant contributions to improving the quality of life of the Cape Cod and Islands. This work may confront social problems, address environmental concerns, or promote arts and humanities.
“There is no better way to begin this tradition than to recognize the two people who saw the need for this museum, visualized what it could be, and then worked tirelessly to make their vision a reality,” said John L. Allen, Executive Director of the John F. Kennedy Hyannis Museum Foundation, Inc. “Their long term commitment has helped build the museum to where it is today.”
Former United States Senator Paul G. Kirk Jr. (D) Massachusetts, will serve as keynote speaker for the event.
“We are honored to host Senator Kirk at the Founders Community Leadership Award luncheon,” added Allen. “Senator Kirk has worked closely with the Kennedy family for decades, particularly with the late Senator Edward M. Kennedy, and shares the family’s commitment to public service.”
